Caunton highly complimented in their industry magazine 'New Steel Construction' this month - showcasing their latest major project The Parkway, Newbury.

Parkway is a multi-million pound retail and residential development located in the heart of Newbury. The main steel frame was completed in November 2010 and required a substantial 2,100 tonnes of structural steelwork.

The complex incorporates 27,000 square metres of shops and restaurant accommodation over two storeys, plus a major three storey 9,000 square metres Debenhams anchor store.

Helping make the development more aesthetically and commercially attractive, below the retail footprint lays a two level underground car park with 734 spaces, and above the development, on a rooftop podium, are 184 residential apartments.

The article quotes major contractor for this project, Costain, praising Caunton for the company’s "flexibility and ability to consistently achieve milestones" throughout their time on site.

Parkway is scheduled to be ready for shoppers before Christmas 2011, while the residential portion of the project will be completed by May 2012.
