At Caunton Engineering, apprenticeships are at the heart of how we develop skilled, confident professionals for the future of the engineering industry. This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to share the experience of our Apprentice of the Year 2025, whose journey reflects the value and impact of our apprenticeship program.
Joining Caunton straight from school on our four year apprenticeship as a fabricator / welder, Lennon, our Apprentice of the Year 2025, was able to make the transition from education into the professional world while gaining hands on experience, industry recognised qualifications and earning a wage.
"I joined Caunton on a 4-year apprenticeship program straight form school as a fabricator / welder. This apprenticeship allowed me to transition from school to the professional world. I learned many essential skills and had the opportunity to work with a variety of skilled individuals, as well as learn how to fabricate and weld whilst being on a wage.
When you start, you go to the training academy, where the teaching staff go above and beyond and help you with not just the practical work but additionally the academic aspect of the apprenticeship. I encourage anyone to do an apprenticeship with Caunton because you get a true sense of the job and the qualification you receive will set you up for life."
Our apprenticeship program combines structured academic learning with real world experience on live projects, supported by experienced mentors and dedicated teaching staff. From day one, apprentices are treated as valued members of the team and given the opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills.
Being named Apprentice of the Year is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the commitment, hard work and determination shown throughout the program.
We’re incredible proud of all our apprentices and remain committed to investing in the next generation of engineering talent.
