Caunton supports major media campaign saying - Steel Still The First Choice Framing Solution

We at Caunton are delighted to announce that there will be a major media campaign over the next few months promoting steel. Caunton’s main steel supplier, Corus, has recently updated its independent cost study, first carried out in 1993. The study, conducted by a team including Davis Langdon, Arup and MACE, considers two typical modern commercial developments. A range of steel, composite and concrete based frame solutions for
both buildings were fully designed, costed and programmed with prices current in June 2007.
A simple hard-hitting advertisement, entitled “Spot the Difference”, will be appearing in the trade press during November/December/January showing that the steel frame costs £132/m² and the concrete frame £164/m². Advertisements will appear in:
• Building
• Construction Manager
• Contract Journal
• New Civil Engineer
• Structural Engineer
These will be followed immediately by a mini-brochure, “The comparative costs of steel and
concrete building frames ….the facts”, developing the cost advantage theme. Please note that you may like to read the pdf file of this here.
