A speedy and most successful rebuild of a fire damaged vegetable-packing complex

Caunton have recently supplied the steelwork for the successful rebuild of a fire damaged warehouse complex near Stratford on Avon. The warehouse at the time of the fire was the largest vegetable packing warehouse in Europe and hit the headlines because four firemen were tragically killed in the fire. Since the November 2007 blaze, client Wealmoor has been operating out of a temporary facility in Tewkesbury. The company completed the move back to the restored Atherstone site in November 2009, transferring all 200 employees.

The steelwork was required to frame the new Main Warehouse, the Packing Building, a three storey office block and an internal walkway. This totalled over 300te of steelwork and included open mesh flooring, handrails and metal decking too. Work on site commenced in January 2009 and Main Contractor for this most successful and high speed £10million plus project was Bowmer and Kirkland Building Services.
