Major New Cheshire Power Station with steelwork by Caunton

Caunton Engineering are delighted to have been awarded the contract for the structural steelwork for a new Bio Power facility by Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC). This 240,000 tonnes capacity gasification facility in Hooton Cheshire will be fuelled by “locally-sourced waste” using 240,000 tonnes of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) each year. It is expected to generate more than 200 GWh of electricity annually.

The project, comprising over 800te of fabricated steelwork, consists of framing for the Boiler House, Turbine Hall, Fuel Storage, and Fuel Unloading Building with Secondary Steelwork supplied by Caunton’s Secondary Steelwork Division. The steelwork connections are designed by the Caunton technical team.

BWSC has previously built nine biomass-fueled power facilities in the UK, most of which it also operates. Caunton are very proud and grateful to have worked on six of these projects.
