New Leicester Tigers hotel – framed by Caunton

Caunton have been very pleased to have received the order from main contractor Marshall Construction for the supply and erection of the steel frame for a new luxury hotel in Leicester. The site is adjacent to the renowned Leicester Tigers rugby stadium. There will in fact be a Caunton steel framed link walkway from the hotel to the existing North stand. The North Stand was framed by Caunton too in 2010. The structure is the second largest single storey stand in the country - only beaten in size by Liverpool’s Kop.

Work has now started on this five storey £22 million hotel. The 183-room complex is going up on the former Granby Halls site, which has been a ground level NCP car park for the past decade or so. The structure requires over 700te of structural steelwork and is engineered by Cundall Consulting Engineers, with connections designed by the Caunton Technical team. The architect is Building Management Services, and is being developed by Yorkshire property developer Marshall CDP.

More information about this massive stand and Caunton’s contribution may be obtained on Caunton web site news of 28th June 2010.
