News of Caunton’s Steel Bricks™ system in major Nuclear Research Centre’s Newsletter

As reported in Caunton Web Site News on 9th July 2021, the Steel Bricks™ system, the UK-based modular steel construction system pioneered by Caunton Engineering, is one of three development projects that will be funded by the U.S. DOE’s Advanced Construction Technology (ACT) initiative. GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, the world-leading provider of nuclear power plant technology, will lead a team which will include Caunton Engineering to explore promising technologies from other industries that have not been tested within the context of nuclear energy.

The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear NAMRC) in their Autumn 2021 Newsletter reports on this. The Nuclear AMRC is part of this US-led collaboration to develop advanced construction technologies that can together reduce the cost of new nuclear builds by more than 10 per cent. The Nuclear AMRC operates research, production and business support facilities in South Yorkshire and other key regions. Their core facility is an 8,000 sq. m research factory on the Advanced Manufacturing Park on the boundary of Sheffield and Rotherham.
