Nottingham City Council and the Nottingham University Samworth Academy Trust joined forces to develop and build a new Academy for 950 pupils aged between 11 and 18 years in Bilborough.

The Nottingham University Samworth Academy (NUSA) is a steel framed two and three storey complex divided into 5 blocks. These are designated as the Main Teaching Block, Science Block, Lecture/Drama Block, Dining Block and the Sports Block. The frame is generally a simple ‘beam & column’ structure with single pitched roofs. Design of the steelwork is by Atkins with connections design by Caunton.

Caunton have supplied not only the structural steelwork, but also metal decking to floor areas together with Easi-edge safety edge protection. Precast concrete stairs and precast concrete lift shafts were also part of the Caunton package.

The Academy will aim to help all of its pupils to get the most out of their years at school and provide them with the skills and confidence they need to secure a successful future.
