Caunton Engineering erected the steelwork frame for a 700,000 sq. ft. regional logistics centre for the Travis Perkins Group, the UK’s largest supplier to the building and construction market. The new £35m logistics centre, which is near Warrington, will supply Travis Perkins Group wholesale and retail outlets across the region, supporting around 450 jobs on site.

Caunton worked for main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine and are responsible for the design of the two thousand tonnes-plus frame and the associated connections. This massive building comprises a ten-span portal frame structure – each span 35 metres and a lofty 17.5 metres to the portal’s haunch. Overall consulting engineer is Curtins, who Caunton worked alongside on seventeen storey Snow Hill 2 in Birmingham.

Major developer the Miller Group, in partnership with Royal Bank of Scotland, fought off tough international competition to land this £1 billion, 30 year regeneration project from English Partnerships. Entitled the Omega site, thousands of new jobs will be created and form a major expansion of Warrington.
