Caunton were pleased to have worked for major developer Mountpark again. The company have supplied the steelwork to main contractor Winvic Construction for three major buildings on Mountpark’s new Southampton site.
Caunton most recently supplied Mountpark and Winvic with the steelwork for the massive Amazon distribution warehouse at Bardon.
The Southampton development, part of a £70million Master plan, is transforming the old Ford Motor Company site where the Ford Transit was once manufactured. The Transit plant controversially closed in 2013 as the automotive giant moved production to Turkey with the loss of more than 350 local jobs.
The site’s familiar plant buildings have since been torn down after the controversial end of Transit production, which had taken place in the city for more than 40 years.
Caunton were responsible for supplying the structural steelwork for three buildings – their dimensions - 135mx70m, 80mx70m and 76mx55m, all substantial projects. Caunton were delighted to have contributed to the beneficial transformation of this area.
