Caunton Engineering were very pleased to have been awarded the contract, by main contractor Volker Fitzpatrick, for the structural steelwork for a new development at Apex Park near Daventry. Plans to extend this Prologis-owned Park created a huge new facility for global engine manufacturer Cummins.
The first phase of the £40 million development will see the creation of 430,000 sq. ft. facility which serves as a new storage and distribution facility for the engine maker. The frame for the building was designed by the Caunton technical team and required nearly 1600te of steelwork. The framework itself is a four span portal frame with a hit-and-miss configuration, and each span 18 metres clear.
