Caunton supplied over 1300tonnes of structural steelwork to help Screwfix expand its Trentham Lakes employment park depot. The enlarged distribution centre in Stanley Matthews Way, Stoke, has almost doubled in size from 320,000 sq. ft. to 630,000 sq. ft. Screwfix is one of the UK’s leading multi-channel supplier of trade tools, accessories and hardware products. Founded in 1979 the company was acquired in 1999 by the Kingfisher plc group, which also owns B&Q and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. In 2014 Screwfix opened its 350th store in Brixton, and have announced that there will be several stores opened in August 2014. Screwfix now employs 6560 people throughout the head Office, Contact Centre and Trade Counters.

Caunton supplied the steelwork under contract to Winvic Construction, who in fact built the original depot now being doubled in size. The site -Trentham Lakes - is the premier distribution, industrial, and mixed use business park in Stoke-on-Trent. It is the home of the Britannia Stadium, premiership Stoke City FC’s home ground, as well a hotel, restaurants, car showrooms, major distribution and manufacturing companies.

The steelwork itself is a twin span propped portal frame, with a three storey mezzanine floor being erected inside, once the outside frame was complete. Caunton are pleased to be of service to yet another Kingfisher Group company.
