A Critical Path Baton - An imaginative initiative by Simons and Caunton

Caunton Engineering are supplying the steelwork for the new Circle Birmingham Hospital on the site of the old BBC Pebble Mill Studios. Caunton are working for main contractor Simons Construction. The two companies have introduced an imaginative initiative to highlight the importance of the critical path to the successful management of a project. They have launched a scheme whereby a Critical Path Baton will be passed physically ( and metaphorically too) from one critical path holder to the next. This baton has been manufactured by Caunton and the company is in fact the first critical path contractor. The baton was delivered to site by Caunton on Friday 15th June 2018 which coincided with the completion of the Rehab steel to Block C. A presentation was then made when the baton was handed to Amy Linford, the Simons Planner, by Jason Boddy, the Caunton Steel Erection Supervisor.

The first photograph records this occasion - from left to right - Michael Firth (Caunton), Matt Baller (Simons) whose Idea this was, Jason Boddy (Caunton), Amy Linford (Simons), Stuart Partlow (Simons) and Steve Waterhouse (Caunton). The second photograph shows the Critical Path Baton in more detail. Next in line to receive the baton will be the Metal Decking sub-contractor.
