Caunton is supplying the steelwork for a new distribution centre in Derby for one of the world's leading logistics providers, Kuehne + Nagel.

Since 1890, when the business was founded in Bremen, Germany, by August Kuehne and Friedrich Nagel, Kuehne + Nagel has grown into one of the world's leading logistics providers. Today, the Kuehne + Nagel Group has more than 1000 offices in over 100 countries, with over 63,000 employees.

Caunton are pleased to be working for main contractor Winvic Construction Ltd. Caunton Engineering are designing, supplying and erecting over 1800te of the main structural steelwork for a five-span portal frame warehouse and a three-storey office block, plus two two-storey hub offices. The company is also responsible for the installation of the metal decking. In addition Caunton’s Secondary Steelwork Division, a rapidly growing team within the Caunton Group, is supplying and fixing much of the secondary steelwork required.

The completed building will cover over 600,000 square feet, with the project being for KN’s drinks division. Caunton therefore “toasts” its success.
