Caunton Engineering designed, fabricated, supplied and erected the steelwork for the Riverside project, a £70M retail development in Stafford.

The project is situated on the north eastern edge of the town centre on land formerly used as a surface car park.

The project team said logistics were a challenge as the site is extremely constricted, bound on one side by the River Sow, and on two other sides by the Stafford Inner Ring Road.

More than 900t of steelwork has been used for new shops that include a Marks & Spencer anchor store, which will incorporate sub-basement parking for 180 cars.

Main contractor for the project is Simons Construction and the developer is LXB Retail Properties.
