Caunton Engineering are very pleased to have been awarded the contract by Winvic Construction for the structural steelwork for a £74m logistics facility for Marks & Spencer at Plot 5 of Axis Works in Avonmouth, South Gloucestershire.
The 1700te steelwork required, which is designed by Caunton, frames a four-span portal frame warehouse with additional steelwork for an external office, link bridge, and stair tower.
The project by joint developers Stoford and Epta Development Corporation sits within the 101-acre Axis Works industrial estate, part of the Avonmouth-Severnside Enterprise Area.
Corstorphine & Wright is the architect on the 36,230 square metre scheme and is expected to complete in summer 2026.
Pre-let to Marks &Spencer on a 20-year lease, the temperature-controlled building will support the retailer’s national food distribution network.
Designed to meet BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings, the facility will be assessed under the RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment Second Edition methodology.
Caunton is proud to be contributing to such a sustainable building.
