Caunton Engineering was appointed to fabricate, supply and install the structural steelwork for a major logistics warehouse delivered by Winvic Construction for GLP Europe at Magna Park, Lutterworth. Located within the Midlands’ logistics ‘Golden Triangle’, adjacent to the M1, M6 and M69, the project forms part of one of Europe’s premier distribution hubs.
The steel framed warehouse provides 70,699m² of floor space and is configured with six 30m wide spans, achieving an 18m clear height to haunch. The building also incorporates a three storey office and two transport hubs, delivering flexibility and high operational efficiency for future occupiers.
Caunton Engineering delivered a total of 2,400 tonnes of structural steelwork, supporting the project’s demanding programme and long span requirements. Steel erection was coordinated to integrate seamlessly with the wider construction works, contributing to the building’s overall delivery within a 41 week construction programme.
Designed to meet exceptional environmental standards, the warehouse achieved BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and EPC A+ ratings, becoming the second building at Magna Park and the fourth GLP facility to reach this level of sustainability performance. The project demonstrates Caunton Engineering’s capability to support the delivery of large scale, high specification logistics developments within complex and fast paced industrial environments.
